Larry Porter IV (b. June 21, 2007) is a promising young wide receiver who arrived in time for spring practices, but redshirted* and did not see any playing time in 2025. He is majoring in business administration.
Porter prepped under head coach Anthony Morgan at Raytown High School, where he was rated the 93rd-best wide receiver in the nation for the Class of 2025 by On3 as well as the No. 2 player in Missouri and 204th-best player nationally as a four-star-rated talent.
He led the state of Missouri with 1,410 receiving yards on 92 catches and 18 touchdowns en route to first-team all-state honors from the Missouri Football Coaches Association.
Porter also rushed nine times for 38 yards, returned 10 kickoffs for a 25.6-yard average and took back five punts for a 7.8-yard average.
He was a finalist for the 2024 Otis Taylor Award, which goes to the top wide receiver in the Kansas City metro area, as well as a semifinalist for the Simone Award, which goes to the top overall player in the Kansas City area.
Porter chose K-State on National Signing Day over scholarship offers from Kansas, Northern Iowa, Tennessee-Martin and Western Illinois, as well as recruiting interest from Cincinnati.
His primary recruiter was his former position coach, Matthew Middleton, who said at this time last year:
Larry Porter IV (has) been doing a good job coming out and competing … throughout the summer and in this fall camp.
If these insane one-handed catches are anything to judge by, he may be having an even better offseason in 2026!
*K-State has recently announced a new classification scheme that designates players by their year of eligibility regardless of whether they have “redshirted,” a term that will go out of use with the new “5-for-5” rule. Thus, the KSU SID lists Porter as a true sophomore even though he did not play in 2025. For the sake of consistency with past posts, I will continue to designate redshirts based on their playing history, but also note their remaining eligibility to stay consistent with the new designations as well.
