The remaining players will play the Bellerive Country Club, with a chance to play in the Tour Championship for the remaining top 30 players. As the PGA Tour whittled itself down to the top 50 players for the 2026 season, some notables missed the top 50. Being in the top 50 is of utmost importance as those players now get into all the signature events on the PGA Tour for 2027, which have larger purses and more FedEx Cup points available. Below are a list of notable players who missed the top 50. Those players will now have the opportunity to play fall events. After those events, players who are ranked 51-60, will get into the first two signature events of the 2027 PGA Tour season. Players To Miss The Top 50 In The FedEx Cup Rankings

Keith Mitchell As Sungjae Im put together a good FedEx St. Jude Championship to propel himself into the top 50, that meant someone had to fall out of the top 50. That man was Keith Mitchell. Mitchell finished T34, which included a wild 72nd hole, where he played barefoot, standing in the hazard and ended up making a bogey, which sealed his fate as the first man out of the top 50. Mitchell was on the edge of the top 50 all season, afterward he discussed what it has been like, saying, “I mean, it’s tough because this year I was like one foot in, one foot out all year, in the majors, in the Signature Events. I didn’t have a schedule. Really didn’t have like, a life, off-weeks built in. Every week I was like, first alternate, or am I going to get in?"

TROON, SCOTLAND - JULY 19: Jordan Spieth of the United States reacts on the 18th green during day two of The 152nd Open championship at Royal Troon on July 19, 2024 in Troon, Scotland. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images) Getty Images 52. Jordan Spieth Jordan Spieth climbed a few spots in the rankings in which he started the week at number 54. He climbed two spots after the FedEx St. Jude Championship, but came up short, ending the season ranked 52nd. Spieth showed glimpses this season, but up and down play left him outside of the top 50. Spieth commented on it after the final round Sunday, saying, “It’s funny, I just feel like I’m kind of getting back to playing really good golf, like it’s close to kicking off, and I’m not going to play a tournament for a long time. I’m very, very confident in what’s coming. I just ran out of steam and maybe made a couple bad decisions over about a six-week stretch on what I was working on, and I just didn’t quite have enough time to make up for it.” Spieth, one of the most popular players in the world, will undoubtedly get some sponsors exemptions next year that should help him in the 2027 FedEx Cup rankings.
