New York Jets 2026 NFL training camp is underway and we have a twist this week: Joint practices.
The Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will do battle in their preseason opener on Friday. Ahead of that, the two sides agreed to get together for a pair of practices which certainly spiced things up.
What unfolded between the Jets and Bucs ahead of their exhibition clash?
Here are Jets Wire's three observations from their second joint practice:
Overall, Jets look better
By all accounts, the Buccaneers had a better day on the field for Day 1 of joint practices from start to finish. At the end of Day 2, the Bucs got the better of the Jets in a two-minute drills.
Beside that, the majority of the second outing went New York's way.
A significantly better start to today’s joint practice for #Jets. Offense much better handling the blitz. Defense winning a fair share as well.

Good response from yesterday.
Breece Hall just busted off a big run. He’s had a very good day.

Geno is late on a GW throw that could have been a TD#Jets
Geno Smith’s series in move the ball to end practice. Situation was 1:06 on the clock starting at their own 32. 10-10 score.

- Braelon Allen drop
- Incomplete to Garrett Wilson, broken up easily by Ayden Games.
- 11 yard completion to Mason Taylor
- Sack by Rueben Bain — and…
Ruckert flashes
Of everyone on both teams, the standout play came from a surprise player. Tight end Jeremy Ruckert could easily be forgotten with first-round rookie Kenyon Sadiq's addition.
But we should not overlook Ruckert and he showed it with a one-handed catch during team drills:
Jeremy Ruckert with a moss on a huge play.

Easily best play the last few camps for him. Get up, big fella!#Jets
Boiling point
And similar to the first joint practice, there was a lot of fighting again to note. Between the two sessions there was no love lost because a physical workout with fireworks happened again.
Will that boil over to the game on Friday?
LOT of fights so far in just two days between the #Jets & Buccaneers at joint practice
