Washington missed the playoffs last season for the first time under Spencer Carbery, and they took this offseason more seriously than ever. This team, top to bottom, has dangerous weapons, and this is a team that can make a solid run in Alex Ovechkin’s final season. New Jersey Devils The big offseason move for the Devils was moving off of Jacob Markstrom, and the return was very solid. Evan Rodriguez will immediately make an impact and has under-the-radar scoring. He can score big goals for them and defend well as a forward. With the team healthy, this team can compete in the top half of the Metropolitan. Can they get good enough goaltending from Nico Daws and Jake Allen? It is something that will be answered when the season kicks in. Brady Tkachuk joins his brother Matthew as the Panthers completed a deal to acquire Brady. These two are elite forces and can be a great duo under Paul Maurice. With a difficult division, the Panthers made some good moves to bolster their team to get back in the playoff mix. New York Rangers The Rangers faced significant challenges last season, being shut out nine times. They struggled to perform at home, which affected their overall morale. In an effort to improve, they brought in two new defensemen, Marcus Petterson and Sean Durzi. With Vincent Trocheck’s departure, the center depth now features Mika Zibanejad, JT Miller, Noah Laba, and Joel Veneno.
