A Premier League move may be the next step for a powerful Manchester City defender

Manchester City looks to have settled on which players will be their centre-backs for next season. Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Abdukodir Khusanov, Marc Guehi and Vitor Reis will form Enzo Maresca’s centre-back rotation. Max Alleyne is set to go out on loan to Burnley. It also isn’t clear what Manchester City’s plans are for Stephen Mfuni. Another promising young centre-back that is on Manchester City’s books is Juma Bah. Since signing for Manchester City from Real Valladolid in January 2025, Bah has spent time on loan at RC Lens and OGC Nice. The powerful young centre-back doesn’t seem to have a role at City at this stage.

After spending the past 18 months in Ligue One, perhaps it is time for Juma Bah to test himself in the Premier League. It has now been reported that Ipswich Town have an interest in signing the Sierra Leone international. A move to a Premier League club that is expected to fight against relegation is the next logical step in Juma Bah’s career.

Ipswich Town reportedly have an interest in signing Juma Bah.

Stuart Watson has relayed a report from Alan Nixon for the Ipswich Star that Ipswich Town have enquired about signing Juma Bah from Manchester City. Furthermore, it is reported that City are demanding £15 million plus £10 million in add-ons to sell Juma Bah this summer.

If Manchester City do sell Juma Bah it would be expected that they will keep some control over his future.

There just doesn’t seem to be room for Juma Bah in the Manchester City squad. The 20-year-old centre-back has attributes that should make him a good defender. He is strong in the air and is also good in a challenge and he reads the game very well. In possession, Juma Bah is competent and he can play at the back for a team that does want to build-up from the back. However, there just doesn’t seem to be room for Bah at City.

A logical move would be for City to sell Juma Bah. Perhaps a move to Ipswich Town is the best one for the young centre-back. That way he can play in the Premier League and take the next step in his career. It does seem likely that if City sold Bah, the deal would likely include a sell-on percentage or a buy-back option. Those terms are typically included in any sale of young players that City sanction.

Juma Bah could be sold by Manchester City this summer. Ipswich Town could make a move to sign him. That could be the best move for Juma Bah. He doesn’t seem to have a chance of breaking through at City. A summer move seems highly likely for the young defender. It is just a matter of where he ends up.
