The second round of the Cincinnati Open was contested Sunday at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
Former Vol Adam Walton defeated No. 29 seed Ignacio Buse, 6-4, 6-3, on Court 7. He advances to the third round on Tuesday against Jaime Faria. A first serve time has not been announced.
Walton opened play Aug. 14 in the Cincinnati Open with a, 7-6(5) 6-0, win over Nicolas Mejia in the first round on Court 8.
He is No. 98 in ATP Rankings.
Walton played at Tennessee from 2017-22, compiling a 124-25 singles and 101-47 doubles record. He was an All-SEC player and earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles competition.
In 2022, Walton combined with Pat Harper to win a doubles national championship.
The former Vol is from Home Hill, Australia. He earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in May 2021 and completed a master's degree in management in May 2022.
