The AHSAA football season officially kicks off next week, but several Tuscaloosa-area teams will get an early taste of Friday night football before the games begin to count.

With the final weekend of the preseason here, teams across the area are hosting jamborees, scrimmages and other events Friday, Aug. 14. The events give players one final tune-up before the regular season begins Aug. 20-21.

Here is a list of high school football preseason events around the Tuscaloosa area on Friday, Aug. 14:

POSITION PREVIEW: 2026 high school football special teams players to watch near Tuscaloosa

AHSAA football preseason events Friday, Aug. 14 in Tuscaloosa area

  • Central:C-Day football scrimmage, 5:30 p.m. at Falcon Practice Field. Free admission.
  • Holt:Meet the Ironmen, 5:30 p.m. at Woody Clements Stadium. The football team, band and cheerleaders will be introduced. Admission is free with a donation of water, Gatorade, laundry detergent, individually wrapped snacks or cash.
  • Bibb County/Fayette County/Tuscaloosa Academy: Four-team jamboree with Mars Hill Bible, 6 p.m at John Morgan Brown Stadium. Tickets are $10. The event will be split into four halves: Fayette County vs. Mars Hill Bible, Bibb County vs. Mars Hill Bible, Bibb County vs. Tuscaloosa Academy, Fayette County vs. Tuscaloosa Academy.
  • Hubbertville: Four-team jamboree at Curry with Dora and Holly Pond, 6 p.m. Each matchup will last one half — Curry vs. Holly Pond, followed by Holly Pond vs. Hubbertville, Dora vs. Hubbertville and Dora vs. Curry. Tickets are $10.
  • Hillcrest:Meet the Patriots, 6 p.m. at Hillcrest. The event includes a varsity football scrimmage, cheer, dance, band and concessions. Admission is $5.
  • Holy Spirit: Back to School Bash, 6-8 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic School. Meet the Saints will begin at 7:45 p.m. in the elementary gym, with all teams introduced and a varsity cheer performance.
  • American Christian: Jamboree vs. Hayden, 7 p.m. at American Christian Academy. Admission is $12.
  • Lamar County:Jamboree at Hamilton, 7 p.m.
  • Winfield: Jamboree vs. Russellville, 7 p.m. at Winfield.
  • Sulligent: Jamboree vs. Hackleburg, 7 p.m. at Brown Stadium.
