Newcastle United have completed the signing of Bosnia and Herzegovina international Amar Dedic from Benfica for a reported £30 million.
The 24-year-old right-back has signed a five-year contract at St James’ Park, with the deal also including an option for a further year. He becomes the first signing of new Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle, with the pair reunited after previously working together at Red Bull Salzburg.
Dedic enjoyed a single season with Benfica after joining from Salzburg, making 43 appearances across all competitions and contributing one goal and four assists.
Benfica confirmed the transfer was worth €35.9m, while Salzburg retain a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
Dedic, who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2026 World Cup, is expected to compete for the right-back spot at Newcastle following Kieran Trippier’s departure.
He could be involved immediately, with Newcastle opening their Premier League campaign against Liverpool at St James’ Park.
