Steve Smith may have been Australia's standout batter during the first Test against Bangladesh in Darwin, but it was a brutally funny remark from a fan that grabbed attention on social media. Smith was battling through a difficult phase for Australia when he briefly stopped play because of an issue with the sight screen. As the delay continued, one spectator appeared to lose patience and decided to give the former Australian captain a piece of his mind. "Just hit the damn thing, Smudge (Smith's nickname). Stop being a princess. You are not bigger than the game, Steve, deal with it," the fan said in a video.

The hilarious exchange was captured on camera and quickly made its way across social media, with fans amused by the spectator's no-nonsense reaction to Smith's request.

Hasan Mahmud tears through Australia Australia, after winning the toss and opting to bat, were bowled out for just 198 in 53 overs. The hosts' top order struggled from the outset, with Travis Head (22), Jake Weatherald (23) and Marnus Labuschagne (1) failing to provide the platform Australia needed. Smith was given an early reprieve after being dropped on two, but he made Bangladesh pay by putting together a determined 71-run knock. Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, claiming a career-best 6/55. Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed chipped in with two wickets apiece as Bangladesh's pace attack accounted for all 10 Australian wickets.

Bangladesh seize control before stumps Bangladesh responded confidently and finished the opening day at 96/1 from 24 overs, leaving them only 102 runs behind Australia with nine wickets in hand. Mitchell Starc provided Australia with their only breakthrough, dismissing Shadman Islam for 20. But Tanzid Hasan (32*) and Mominul Haque (35*) then put Bangladesh firmly in control with an unbeaten 60-run partnership.
