Angel Reese’s Atlanta Dream won their 24th game of the season vs the Connecticut Sun on Thursday. Dream climb to 4th in the league table as Sun’s struggles continue. They are 14th in the table with an abysmal 8-24 record.
During the game, one play garnered a lot of attention from fans. Angel Reese and Aaliyah Edwards got into an altercation during the 2nd quarter with little over three minutes remaining.
Reese received the ball and tried to score the layup as Edwards tried to block her from behind. Sun’s Leila Lacan was also on Reese and disrupted her attempt. Reese felt pressure from behind and bumped Edwards in the face.
Sun’s star started falling down and accidentally caught Reese’s neck in the follow-through. This drew a reaction from Reese, and Edwards was given a flagrant foul 1 after review. Some fans questioned the decision.
“I mean, angel headbutts her first. Wild call,” one fan said.
Reese stared down at Edwards, who went down after the contact. She also shouted, “She grabbed my neck,” while the review was taking place.
