The Arizona Cardinals made a number of roster moves on Saturday ahead of their first practice following their 27-14 preseason win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday. They placed three players on injured reserve, ending their seasons, and signed a trio of players.

The Cardinals placed the following players on injured reserve:

  • OL Chase Bisontis
  • TE Jameson Geers
  • LB Austin Keys

Bisontis, the Cardinals' second-round pick, suffered a torn MCL in his left knee and will need surgery.

Geers was a rookie free agent who played on Thursday. Keys played extensively and had a team-leading 11 tackles in the Hall of Fame Game, but he had not practiced since.

All are done for the season unless they are waived with an injury settlement later on.

Three new Cardinals signed

To take the place of Bisontis, Geers and Keys, the Cardinals signed the following players:

  • TE Baylor Cupp
  • DL Keveion'ta Spears
  • RB Tre Stewart

Cupp had a tryout with the Cardinals recently. He was a rookie free agent in 2024 and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and spent time on their practice squad. He also appeared in one game. He played in the UFL for the Arlington Renegades most recently. He is 6-6 and 243 pounds.

Spears is a rookie free agent out of SMU. He played there for one season after three seasons at Louisiana Tech and two at Memphis. He is 6-3 and 321 pounds. During his six-year collegiate career, Spears appeared in 49 games (11 starts) and tallied 45 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and five passes defensed. In his lone season with the Mustangs in 2025, he appeared in all 13 games (two starts) and finished the season with 15 tackles (eight solo), 2.5 tackles for loss and four pass breakups which tied for the most among SMU defensive linemen.

Stewart is needed because first-round pick Jeremiyah Love is out with an ankle injury, James Conner has not yet begun practicing in 11-on-11s as he recovers from an ankle injury from last season and Trey Benson has missed the last two weeks with a flare-up of his surgically repaired knee. He is 5-8 and 186 pounds. He was in the UFL this past spring with the Orlando Storm, and he appeared in five games and recorded 108 rushing yards averaging 3.9 yards per attempt. He also had four receptions for 27 yards. He entered the NFL with Minnesota as an undrafted rookie free agent from Jacksonville State in 2025. In his four-year collegiate career at Jacksonville State (2024) and Limestone University (2021-23), Stewart played in 46 games and rushed for 4,632 yards on 700 carries (6.6 avg.) and 47 touchdowns while catching 83 passes for 833 yards (10.0 avg.) and six touchdowns.
