Arsenal have added Marc Pubill to their transfer list as they could be priced out of a move for Ezri Konsa during this transfer window. The Gunners want Konsa to become their next major addition after signing Bruno Guimaraes, but completing a deal for the defender is proving difficult because Aston Villa want to keep him.
The Villans are only prepared to consider Konsa’s departure if their asking price is met. Arsenal currently believe the valuation is too high, meaning the proposed transfer may not happen. The Gunners regard Konsa as a quality defender who could strengthen their squad, but they are also preparing alternative options.
Pubill Emerges as Arsenal Alternative
If Arsenal cannot agree on a deal for Konsa, they will turn their attention towards other targets. Team Talk reports that Pubill has now been added to their list of potential signings as the Gunners consider their options.
The Spain international plays for Atletico Madrid and the Spanish national team and has established himself as an important player. Atletico would like to keep the 23-year-old, but Pubill could be interested in moving to England and testing himself in a new competition this summer.
Arsenal view the defender as a player who could improve their squad, making him an attractive alternative if their pursuit of Konsa fails. His situation will therefore be worth monitoring as the Gunners continue to assess their defensive options.
Arsenal Must Decide on Defensive Target
The Gunners are prepared to explore a move for Pubill, but their priority remains Konsa. Arsenal would prefer to complete a deal for the Aston Villa defender, provided they can reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
Pubill has therefore emerged as a backup option rather than a direct replacement in Arsenal’s plans. If Villa maintain their current asking price and refuse to compromise, the Gunners could decide that pursuing Pubill is the better route.
For now, Arsenal remain focused on strengthening their defence and want to ensure they add another quality player before the transfer window closes. Konsa remains their preferred target, but Pubill gives them another option should the deal for the Aston Villa defender prove impossible to complete.
