Arsenal have a chance to win a second trophy this summer when they face Manchester City in the Community Shield tomorrow, and Mikel Arteta believes they are truly hungry for success.
The Gunners have developed a superb team, and the time has come for them to win trophies consistently after reaching the final of the Champions League and Carabao Cup last season. They did not win either of those trophies, but the Gunners won the league crown and will be expected to defend it this season, meaning this could be a more successful campaign for them.
The first trophy they can win is the Community Shield, but that could also become Enzo Maresca’s first trophy as the manager of City.
Arsenal Ready to Compete
Arsenal have some of the best players in the league in their current squad, and they are all ready to win the game. Arteta is coaching a team that wants more success, and the players have convinced their manager that they truly want to win the trophy.
The Community Shield provides Arsenal with an early opportunity to add another piece of silverware after their league success. Arteta believes the attitude within the squad shows that his players are prepared to compete from the beginning of the new campaign.
The return of the international players has also added to the positive atmosphere around the team, with Arsenal eager to begin competing again.
Arteta Praises Arsenal’s Hunger
Speaking to Arsenal Media: Arteta said,
“We are really excited to start the season.
“To start with the first trophy as well, I sense a really good energy around the place. All the internationals are back, and we can’t wait to start competing.
“It’s a trophy that we can have because we managed last year to win the Premier League, and you can tell how hungry the players are, which is a good sign.”
Arteta’s comments suggest Arsenal are determined to build on their league success and begin the season strongly. City will provide a difficult challenge, particularly with Maresca looking for his first trophy, but the Gunners will enter the match believing they have what it takes to win.
A victory would give Arsenal an early boost and provide further evidence that their squad is ready to compete for more trophies this season.
