Bad news: Bradley Barcola deal slipping through Richard Hughes' fingers

It’s no secret that Liverpool want Bradley Barcola.

The France international, 23, has loomed into focus as the No1 candidate to arrive and improve the wing options available to Andoni Iraola.

Barcola is under contract at Paris Saint-Germain until 2028 and it’s unlikely he will sign a new deal. It will soon come time for the double European champions to make a decision on his future.

Barcola is valued at between €160m and €170m by his employers - an eye-watering amount for a player who isn’t a guaranteed starter.

PSG getting fed up with Liverpool

A report in Le Parisien - via Foot01 - is now claiming that Liverpool have fallen short TWICE already in attempting to sign Barcola this summer.

Furthermore it’s being claimed that PSG are growing fed up with Liverpool as negotiations drag on - with Richard Hughes and Co. refusing to cough up the requisite amount.

“Liverpool are still refusing to pay what Paris want, and relations between the two clubs are starting to sour,” the report reads.

“Le Parisien confirms that negotiations are beginning to stall seriously.”

Liverpool will not pay Barcola asking price

Liverpool are crying out for a top-quality winger but Barcola won’t be signed at all costs.

Instead the 2024/25 Premier League champions need a deal to happen on their terms - particularly having spent £450m last summer and £100m already in the current window.

“Liverpool refuse to pay the €160m demanded by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and, as confirmed on Saturday, matters are starting to become seriously stuck,” the report reads.

“According to Stéphane Bianchi, a journalist for the Paris-based daily, the gap between Liverpool’s bids and PSG’s valuation of Barcola has already resulted in two rejected offers.”

Liverpool's Barcola dream in tatters

Barcola was included in the PSG squad for the UEFA Super Cup victory over Aston Villa in midweek - although the France international didn’t play.

He is now expected to be in the travelling party for Sunday’s French Super Cup tie against Lens. And right now reporters on the French side are not convinced that a deal is going to happen this summer.

Instead it is reckoned that Barcola is likely to STAY beyond the September 1 transfer deadline before embarking on a move for Anfield next year.

“The question is now whether Barcola will leave this summer or remain at PSG for another season before joining Liverpool next year—when he would have only one year remaining on his contract,” the report reads.
