Robinson struggled during his rookie season and did not stand out during the first week of training camp this summer. The Eagles’ 2025 fourth-round pick looked like a bust, but that narrative is slowly changing.
It’s not time to declare that Robinson has turned his career around, but he has performed better in recent practices and has played well against the Ravens. In the first quarter, Robinson beat Ravens second-year guard Emery Jones for a sack with a club move. He has beaten his teammates with that same move in practice. He plays with good power in his hands. Now he needs to round out his game and become a more effective player. But this type of performance should help him lock up a roster spot.
Very cool to see back-to-back impressive snaps from the Eagles’ two international rookies, Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru in the third quarter. Bernard, in his first snap of organized football, showed his strength when he pushed back Ravens tackle Emery Jones, a 3rd-round pick last year, on a bull rush.
Ex-Ravens edge rusher Za’Darius Smith unretires to sign with Browns
The Browns hosted their former edge rusher Za’Darius Smith for a tryout on Thursday, and it proved to be a fit for both sides. He’s expected to fly to Cleveland on Sunday, and if all goes planned, he should be under contract shortly thereafter.
That would enable Smith to get back on the field for four days of practices this week, including Thursday’s joint practice against the Bills. It’s a big week for the Browns as they aim to decide between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders after the Bills game on Saturday at Huntington Bank Field.
Ravens OL ranked 24th in NFL by PFF
Overhauling both guard spots was a necessity for the Ravens, with the 55.2 combined PFF grade they got from their guards in 2025 ranking sixth worst in the league. Out are Andrew Vorhees, and in are John Simpson and Olaivavega Ioane. Both should be upgrades, but it’s important to temper expectations here. Simpson has just one season with a PFF grade above 60.0 in his career, while just one guard has earned a PFF grade above 80.0 as a rookie since 2018. The X-factor here is new offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford, and while the unit should be better overall than it was a year ago, he could spark them closer to the middle of the pack.
