FC Barcelona will sign a centre-forward before the transfer window closes.

There is absolute conviction within the club that Julian Alvarez will eventually arrive because the Argentine is determined to leave Atletico Madrid.

But time is running out, and the sporting department is also analyzing interesting alternatives with a realistic chance of becoming available.

Nicolo Tresoldi an option for Barça

Now, according to reports in England, as relayed by SPORT, one of the players Barcelona are monitoring closely is Nicolo Tresoldi, the breakout striker in the Belgian league and Club Brugge’s leading scorer last season.

A footballer with enormous potential, the youngster is currently an international with Germany U-21.

Tresoldi has already received interesting offers from Premier League clubs and AS Roma this summer, but Brugge is demanding more than €40 million, and so far he has remained at the club.

According to the report, Barcelona already have all the information regarding a potential transfer and have also made contact with his camp without taking the next step.

The club’s scouts have in fact been working on his profile in recent days because he is considered one of the most interesting young forwards currently available on the market.

Hansi Flick has excellent reports on the 21-year-old from Germany’s youth national teams and knows that Tresoldi has developed well and has the potential to become a star.

A striker who already troubled Barcelona

Club Brugge are tough negotiators, as they demonstrated with the Barcelona deal for Jesse Bisiwu, but the Belgian club also understand that it would be extremely difficult to keep Tresoldi if a top-level club makes a serious offer.

Last season, he was the standout player for the team, producing several memorable performances. He scored 24 goals in all competitions.

Tresoldi actually scored against Barcelona in last season’s Champions League clash, which ended 3-3, and proved a genuine headache for the Blaugrana defenders.

Tresoldi still has plenty of room for development, but his style could fit what Barcelona needs from a No. 9.

He combines well with teammates, is effective in tight spaces and performs particularly well against deep defensive blocks. He is also an excellent finisher inside the box, although dribbling is not yet the strongest part of his game.

That makes him the type of striker Barcelona is looking at, although there is a drawback: he is not yet a fully finished product, making him a potentially risky investment.

Alvarez remains Plan A

However, it must be noted that Barcelona continue to work with the clear objective of signing Alvarez, who continues to be the Plan A for Flick and Deco.

But the La Liga champions are also preparing a Plan B in case that operation cannot be completed.

For now, Barcelona will wait, but the Catalans are examining a large number of options, and Tresoldi is one of them.
