Media updates on Julian Alvarez and his disappointment at Atletico Madrid have been flowing in all day on the Spanish media, but nothing has changed with regard to a potential transfer,

Atletico Madrid still remain firm that they will not sell the player, and the Argentine star finds himself in a helpless situation given that he refuses to take the radical route out.

Radio La Red (h/t Albiceleste Talk) brings to light the latest such update on Alvarez’s situation, once again confirming that the player is far from happy with his position, although it is now growing unclear if it will translate to anything.

Devastation for the player

Indeed, as relayed by the Argentine outlet, a direct text message has surfaced from Alvarez’s close entourage with the exact words as follows,

“Julian Alvarez is emotionally devastated.”

The tone of the message, needless to say, speaks volumes on how the player feels trapped and betrayed, and rightfully so.

After all, word has it that Atletico Madrid themselves asked the player to make a public statement and are now rejecting his plea to leave.

The next message from his entourage explains how Atletico Madrid are being extremely rigid in their stance and how there is no room for flexibility from their side.

“There is total frustration from the player because Atlético Madrid won’t let him leave. Atlético remain completely inflexible, they do not want to sell Julián and they are not even willing to face the situation directly.”

Finally, in perhaps the most breaking development, they confirm that Alvarez’s request for a meeting with Gil Marin has also been rejected.

“In fact, Gil Marin has not given him a personal meeting.”

What’s next in the saga?

At this stage, it thus remains to be seen how the situation plays out, especially with Alvarez already feeling hard done. Having the club administration also reject his request for a discussion will not go down well with the player.

Everything will ultimately boil down to whether or not the player is willing to take a radical stance. That appears to be the only means he can force an exit by, and with just over two weeks remaining on the market, he must move fast.

For Barcelona, it could well be a sign that time is running out and that they must keep their backup plans ready and operational.
