Battery Creek charged up to make third straight playoff appearance

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Battery Creek football team seeks its third straight playoff appearance as they get ready to start the 2026 campaign on Friday. As Battery Creek prepares for a new season, they also prep for a new classification. The Dolphins drop down to Class 2A this year. Last season, Battery Creek went 2-9 and 0-4 in the region, but made the playoffs as the 14-seed losing to Loris. Expect Ed Susi to play multiple players on both sides. Coach Susi said guys will have to step up so they can give each other breaks. "August and September are going to be miserable weather-wise and things," Susi said. "So guys are going to have to step up. That's kind of what we've been preaching to them about and being very competitive and trying to do something that the school hasn't done before at all, or at least in a while, a long time, and that's winning games. Battery Creek's last winning season was 2002, when they went 7-6. Battery Creek begins the season Friday on the road against Whale Branch at 7 p.m. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
