Bayern Munich star Luis Díaz is making a difference off the pitch.

Through his foundation, the Bayern Munich winger has helped collect more than eight tons of donations for victims of the devastating earthquake that recently struck Colombia. Díaz has also used his platform to call for additional support for those affected, while expressing his frustration that he cannot be physically present in his home country during such a difficult moment.

On August 10th, a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, with its epicenter near San José del Palmar in the Chocó department. It was the strongest earthquake recorded in Colombia this century and caused widespread destruction across many cities.

The disaster has killed nearly 290 people, injured thousands and has left more than 140 people missing, while thousands of homes, hospitals, schools and other buildings were damaged or destroyed. Rescue teams have continued searching through collapsed structures, although operations are increasingly shifting toward recovery.

The Colombian government declared a national disaster and launched a major relief effort, with international organizations and governments also providing assistance. The scale of the devastation has prompted fundraising efforts across Colombia, including support from figures such as Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz.

“I wish we could be there to help and do our part, but from a distance we are doing everything possible,” said Díaz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

The Bayern Munich star has made it clear that distance will not stop him from supporting those in need. Through his foundation and the generosity of those who have contributed, more than eight tons of essential donations have already been gathered for communities affected by the disaster.

For Díaz, this is about more than football. It is about using his position to help people during one of the most challenging moments they have faced. His efforts also serve as a reminder of the connection he maintains with Colombia despite now playing his football in Germany.

Eight tons is an enormous amount of aid, but Díaz is still encouraging people to do more. His message is simple — every contribution can help.

If you would like to support the relief efforts in Colombia, there are several ways to do so, including at the links below:
