“Beast” Brian Madjo scores on Aston Villa debut in Super Cup as Matty Cash hails unstoppable 17-year-old Matty Cash has called Aston Villa teammate Brian Madjo a beast after the teenager scored in the UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain. Madjo made his mark after netting on his competitive debut for the club during Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat to the European champions. The 17-year-old continued an impressive pre-season campaign with a goal, and troubled back-to-backChampions League winner Willian Pacho all evening. His Aston Villa teammates were full of praise for the teenager at full-time, with Cash admitting the robust Madjo is difficult to stop. "Ah, he's a beast. He's so good," Cash said to theBBC. "All pre-season, he's put his body around, scored goals, and then tonight he's had a few chances. He had the header, where he probably could have scored, and then a good finish. Really happy for him. Obviously, 17 is still so young, he'll be delighted. "Last year, he was waiting for ages, training every day and he couldn't play because of the block. It's been a tough period, and then when we found out the news last week that he was free, we obviously gave him a round of applause." Why wasn't Brian Madjo allowed to play for Aston Villa? Aston Villa signed Madjo from French side Metz for a fee of around £10m in the January transfer window. Though born in London to Cameroonian parents, Madjo moved to Luxembourg at a young age. He has represented Luxembourg at international level, though changed his international allegiance to England in 2025. He has scored four goals in nine caps at u-17 level. Madjo was prevented from playing for Aston Villa last season, due to rules regarding the international transfer of minors. However, Aston Villa have successfully won an appeal to register Madjo, due to the teenager being born in the UK. "Aston Villa can confirm that the club’s appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding the registration of Brian Madjo has been upheld,"a club statement said last week. "17-year-old Madjo signed for the club from Metz in January. Born in Enfield, London and a UK citizen, he left England at a young age and was raised in Luxembourg but has been unable to play due to FIFA‘s rules on the international transfer of minors. "The striker has scored four goals in pre-season so far, including two in the opening friendly fixture against Walsall. "The court’s decision today means that Brian will be registered as an Aston Villa player and eligible to play in official competition matches for the forthcoming season."
