Former Cincinnati Bengal quarterback Jeff Blake attended practice recently. He had a very good breakdown of Joe Burrow’s game while also making a prediction most fans are hoping for as well.

“He’s got a tight throwing motion, really good mechanics, generates a lot of power in his throws, and he’s really accurate,” Blake told Dan Hoard. “He was blessed to have the opportunity to take this team to a Super Bowl, and he’s young enough to do it again.”

Blake may not be the first quarterback to come to mind when you think of Cincinnati quarterbacks who have had long stints with the team, but he is currently help this younger generation of quarterbacks reach their full potential as the Director of quarterback academy at IMG. He breaks down the fundamentals for a living.

It is always good to hear from a former fan favorite about these current Bengals.

Five Observations from Day 12 of Bengals Training Camp

“I knew my time would come if I was just patient,” Hudson said. “There’s no point in being uptight about it or getting mad about it, your time is going to come and you’re either prepared to make a play or you’re not.”

The tight end room is quietly getting pretty crowded. Tanner Hudson has survived Roster’ cuts so far, but things are getting close with young players like Erick All, Jack Endries and Cam Grandy. Not to mention Mike Gesicki and Drew Sample are both veteran players who have played a ton of snaps for this team already.

Training Camp Report | Joe Burrow Tames The Dog Days With Icy Execution

“As soon as I get out of my break, the ball is there. Like I’ve said, you can’t guard a perfect ball,” Young said. “Just me and Joe trusting each other on that timing route. He makes it easy. All that pressure in his face, he has to read all the checks, and he still threw a perfect ball out there.”

The more you hear from Colbie Young the more he sounds like he understands the multiple levels of the offense and defense beyond what a normal receiver might. It shows up in just how often we have seen him makes plays time and time again so far in training camp.

Bengals rookie Ceyair Wright bolts camp for big movie role

“We wish him the best. He was fun to be around, he really competed hard for us. It was fun watching him play,” Taylor said. “But obviously he’s chosen to go a different path.”

Just when you think you have seen it all you are reminded why the NFL is just an unbelievable reality TV show writers wished they could script. I mean this guy was in the new Space Jam, so it isn’t hard to believe he might be headed for bigger things as an actor than as an undrafted free agent trying to make a team.

How the preseason opener instantly defined Bengals’ new identity

Things were looking pretty hairy around this time last year. Yes, Burrow was healthy throughout training camp, but Trey Hendrickson’s contract situation was like a dark cloud that indeed foreshadowed an ominous 2025 campaign for the defense.

It is nice going into a season without the latest player hold-in weighing on everything the team is doing. There seems to be an air of optimism as the front office seems to have finally taken their version of a big swing.

NFL News

Cowboys agree to terms with eight-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Von Miller

He’s the current active leader in career sacks with 138.5, having racked up nine last year to lead the Commanders despite starting only three of 17 games. That number was the most since a 9.5-sack effort combined between the Broncos and Rams in 2021, a year that divides Miller’s career quite cleanly.

Teams hoping to make that push to being a contender are starting those mid-training cap additions. Maybe I is time to get a veteran linebacker in the fold for Cincinnati.

Report: Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love unlikely to play again in preseason due to high ankle sprain

Love is dealing with a high ankle sprain and is unlikely to play again this preseason, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday. Schefter added that the team is hopeful the No. 3 overall pick can return for the regular-season opener on Sept. 13 against the Chargers.

It is best to be safe, but it was nice to see such a talented rookie get an opportunity to shine before the regular season.

Rams’ Sean McVay has no timeline for Aaron Donald decision: ‘I am hopeful that it will be sooner rather than later’

“Here’s what I would say; we have a great dialog,” McVay said Saturday night, via team transcript. “It’s going to be on his timeline. When he feels good about having clarity, whether that is yes or whether that ends up being a no, we have had some tentative decisions behind the scenes.”

Another contender level team hoping to build one of the more dynamic one-two punches from pass rushers ever seen by adding Donald to Myles Garrett on their defensive line.
