Its prominent copper-clad dome with a golden spire stands on the highest ground of the campus, overlooking Annapolis and serving as a beacon for those seeking a reminder of their purpose.
Hall then heads southwest to New Orleans, stopping in to explore St. Louis Cathedral, which has stood as a cornerstone of the community since the 1700s.

This iconic church, the oldest active Roman Catholic cathedral in the U.S., has its own story of resilience to tell — enduring hurricanes and fires only to be rebuilt to stand tall today.
"It's our unifying presence," said Glenn Booker, a Royal Carriages driver and tour guide from the city.
"It's an indicative presence of what the Catholic religion means to this city."
Hall's stop for the third installment of "America's Churches" takes him to Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University, where he explores the intersection of faith across education and sports.
The interfaith space sitting in the heart of campus serves as a welcoming refuge for everyone, fostering connection, celebration and reflection.
"No matter where we come from, no matter what religion or spiritual following we have, we all come together, and we find these shared morals and a shared space is a physical representation of that," said Sadie Meyer, a student at the university.
