D.J. Moore's Buffalo Bills debut was impressive. It included a scare. Moore appeared to hurt his leg after his third catch in Saturday's 29-14 preseason win over the Carolina Panthers, signaling to come out before walking to the sideline with trainers. The good news? Bills coach Joe Brady said Moore was already scheduled to come out after the play and the receiver told him afterward he was OK. Buffalo appeared to avoid any major injuries in its preseason victory. Here's who was banged up during the game and who didn't play for the Bills. Injuries during game D.J. Moore, WR Moore finished with three catches for 61 yards on two series with Josh Allen before leaving the game after an 18-yard reception near the left sideline. He landed on his right leg after a tackle by Panthers safety Zakee Wheatley. He sat on the bench while being evaluated by trainers before getting back to his feet and walking around on the sideline. Brady said Moore wasn't scheduled to play beyond that possession anyway. "He was going to come out after that play. That was the last drive with him," Brady said. "When I talked with him he said he was good to go. So we'll see what tomorrow looks like." Alec Anderson, OL Alec Anderson briefly left the game after staying down on the field following a Ray Davis run. Anderson was able to get back to his feet and came out for one play before returning to the game. He is battling Austin Corbett for the Bills' starting left guard spot. Bills injury update: Who didn't play vs. Panthers? Skyler Bell, WR, lower body Skyler Bell missed practice time leading up to the preseason opener and did not dress against the Panthers. Head coach Joe Brady said after the game that Bell is dealing with a lower body injury that isn't considered serious. "If it was a game, he would have been able to play today," Brady said. The Bills opted to give Bell more time to recover with a joint practice and the preseason game this week. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, S, calf C.J. Gardner-Johnson did not dress against the Panthers as he continues to work his way back from a right calf strain. Gardner-Johnson was carted off the practice field Aug. 1 but returned to practice five days later. He left practice early Aug. 10 before returning for some drills the following day. Ty Johnson, RB, lower body Ty Johnson did not play after suffering an injury during the Return of the Blue & Red practice Aug. 8. Johnson was going one-on-one with linebacker Joe Andreessen when he went down near the right sideline and grabbed his right leg. A trainer helped Johnson walk off the field. Johnson missed practice time leading up to the Panthers game and did not dress Saturday. Connor McGovern, C, lower body Connor McGovern also was injured during the Return of the Blue & Red practice and did not dress against Carolina. McGovern grabbed the back of his right leg after trying to chase down Christian Benford following an interception. He walked off the field with trainers. Brady later described McGovern's injury only as lower body. Maxwell Hairston, CB, lower body Maxwell Hairston dressed and warmed up before the preseason opener but did not play. Hairston initially sat out the final training camp practice at St. John Fisher University on Aug. 7. The Bills did not specify his injury at the time but indicated they weren't concerned about his long-term availability. Brady later said Hairston was dealing with a lower-body injury. Cole Bishop, S, lower body Cole Bishop dressed and warmed up before the preseason opener but did not play. Bishop left the two-minute drill near the end of the Return of the Blue & Red practice on Aug. 8 and missed practice time last week. Brady said Bishop is dealing with a lower-body injury. Tyrell Shavers, WR, knee Tyrell Shavers remains on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from the torn ACL he suffered during last season's playoffs. Michael Hoecht, OLB, Achilles Michael Hoecht did not play in the preseason opener as he continues his recovery from the torn right Achilles he suffered last season. Hoecht has participated in training camp as the Bills work him back from the injury. This article originally appeared on Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: Bills injury update: D.J.
