Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix absorbed some punishment from the team’s defense during practice on Tuesday, but he’s loving it. The same can be said about his attitude toward getting into fights with his teammates.
Nix, who had a couple of surgeries on his ankle, was taken down by Nik Bonitto, Jonathon Cooper and Malcolm Roach in the pocket after his protection unit collapsed, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Broncos.
The former Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks quarterback also got into it plays later with Bonitto, but Nix seems to be loving that kind of intensity.

“I love it. It’s football. It’s getting me ready for the games coming up,” Nix said. “It’s a physical practice out there played by physical people. It got intense, and we were just really enjoying it. Sometimes in the dog days of summer, practice gets long, and the intensity runs high.”
But the Broncos may have to dial it down a bit on their physicality, particularly on Nix, considering the injury he suffered in the last playoffs. He broke his ankle in the AFC Divisional Round showdown against the Buffalo Bills in January.
The Broncos won that contest, but Nix couldn’t see action in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots, who eventually represented the conference in the Super Bowl.
Nix can play his first competitive NFL game on Friday, when the Broncos share the field in Week 2 of the preseason with the Green Bay Packers at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.
