The Denver Broncos are bringing in a new center after losing three players at the position.
The Broncos are signing veteran Lecitus Smith (6-3, 314 pounds), according to a report from KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. The 28-year-old lineman originally entered the league as a sixth-round pick out of Virginia Tech with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. Smith has spent time with six NFL teams in his career, most recently spending part of last season on the Green Bay Packers' practice squad.
Smith has dressed for 19 games in his career, making four starts. Denver signed him following injuries to Luke Wattenberg, Alex Forsyth and Michael Deiter (quad), who will be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Smith joins Calvin Throckmorton and undrafted rookie Gavin Ortega as one of the team's three healthy centers. Other candidates who could fill in at that spot include All-Pro guard Quinn Meinerz and fourth-round draft pick Kage Casey.
