The Cleveland Browns returned to the field this past weekend to kick off the preseason, losing to the Chicago Bears, and are now set to face the Buffalo Bills this weekend and host a joint practice with them during the week. On Monday, they announced a change to their roster at the tight end position, waiving Brenden Bates with an injury designation and signing Jermaine Terry to replace him.
Terry was an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State last year for the New York Giants but was waived on the final roster cutdowns with an injury designation. During his final collegiate season with the Beavers, Terry played in 12 games and had a total of 23 receptions for 375 yards and one touchdown.
Terry is an interesting player; he is a decent blocker, though he could use more power, and is an all-around pretty nice athlete, though he doesn't have placing speed. He has quick feet and strong, powerful hands both at the catchpoint and as a blocker, though he is at his best when he is on the move as a blocker and not stonewalling one-on-one. He will have a chance to compete for a roster spot.
