With two National League MVPs and nine All-Star selections, there’s no debate that Bryce Harper is really good at hitting and catching baseballs.
Turns out, the Philadelphia Phillies first baseman is also really good at catching ears of corn.
Ahead of the Phillies playing the Minnesota Twins in the MLB at Field of Dreams game on Thursday, Harper and his teammate Kyle Schwarber faced off in a “Catch the Corn” challenge with Netflix, which is streaming the game.
Harper and Schwarber had to see how many ears of corn they could catch and hold without dropping. The Phillies stars were put to the test as corn was tossed to them off-screen.
Schwarber caught 13 before dropping all of the ears while trying to catch No. 14.
As Netflix Sports wrote in the caption for the video, Harper “was absolutely locked in.”
Harper outlasted Schwarber and was on a roll, stacking the corn into a pile in his arms and catching a few with just two fingers, but he couldn’t hang on to his 23rd ear of corn.
The 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams game
Thursday’s game marks the third MLB at Field of Dreams game.
The game is played in Dyersville, Iowa, in a ballpark constructed at the site where the iconic 1989 baseball movie starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones and Ray Liotta was filmed.
MLB held its first Field of Dreams game at the site in August 2021, a 9-8 Chicago White Sox victory over the New York Yankees.
The league returned for the second game the following year, when the Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 4–2.
The series went on a four-year hiatus while construction took place at the site. Costner will be a part of the broadcast like he was for the first edition, Netflix’s vice president of global live sports and entertainment Gabe Spitzer confirmed to the Des Moines Register earlier this month.
“Kevin is an icon,” Spitzer said. “I don’t want to spoil any of the fun, but he’ll be a part of our broadcast in some way. I can’t say if he’s going to be there or not but definitely, he’ll show up. The movie will feel present in what we’re doing.”
In 2021, Costner emerged from the cornfield behind the baseball field and was later followed by the White Sox and Yankees players.

The 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams game starts at 5:30 p.m. MDT with pregame coverage at 4:30 p.m. MDT and will be streamed on Netflix.
Following Thursday’s Field of Dreams game, the Phillies and Twins will travel to Minnesota to continue the series at Target Field.
