Caitlin Clark spoke about the intensity of Indiana Fever’s 95-91 OT win over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.

Clark led the Fever with 26 points and nine assists in the win, as Indiana improved its season record to 23-12. The Dream fell to 21-13 in what was a clash between potential playoff opponents.

The Fever and Dream would face each other in the first round of the 2026 WNBA Playoffs if they started today, and the game reminded Clark of that intensity.

Caitlin Clark thinks Dream clash had playoff intensity

Clark spoke after the game and said that this win felt like a playoff game while also remarking about the toughness the Dream would bring if they were to face off in the playoffs.

“Caitlin Clark said today’s game against the Dream felt like a playoff game. ‘For us, these are the games you get up for. That’s what’s fun about competition. You wanna play the best. It brings out the best in you.’ Says Atlanta will be a scary team in the playoffs.”

This game was a battle, with the Fever overturning an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter by restricting the Dream to just nine points in the entire quarter to force OT.

Aliyah Boston might have been the true MVP of this game with 18 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, five steals, and three blocks. Kelsey Mitchell had another 20-point night while Makayla Timpson also had 20 points along with seven rebounds.

Alishay Gray had a well-rounded 32 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Reese had 15 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists in the close loss.

Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese in the playoffs could be on the cards

The most high-profile rivalry in the WNBA might be visible on the playoff stage if the Fever and Dream are slotted to face each other.

The Fever are 1.5 games clear of the Dream and New York Liberty in the No. 4 seed, with potential to rise up the standings as they’re just .5 games behind the Las Vegas Aces in No. 3.

The Dream and Liberty are tied for No. 5 and 6 right now, with the Washington Mystics and Dallas Wings in striking distance of them as well.

While the Playoff field is all but settled, the seeding race is very much active in the middle of the standings.

The Fever and Dream would be first-round opponents if the playoffs started right now, but they could also find themselves on opposite ends of the bracket depending on the results in the coming weeks.
