Caitlin Clark is currently one of the biggest faces in the WNBA. In a league which has been marred by controversy and scandals, she has emerged as someone fans are willing to watch every game.
Ever since she joined the Indiana Fever, she has put up record numbers and performances that are slowly cementing her status as a great player. With the season close to being finished, there are calls for her to be awarded the MVP.
Caitlin Clark's recent stats make compelling case for MVP
Clark has produced great numbers in the 2026 WNBA season, especially in the latest stretch of games. In her last 11 games in the league, she averaged 26.3 points, 9.4 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from three-point range and 86.7 percent from the free-throw line in 33.4 minutes per contest.
These figures already exceed her full-season averages through 31 games. She had 22.0 points, 8.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds on 45.0 percent field-goal shooting, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent free-throw accuracy in 30.9 minutes. The Fever has gone 9-2 in these games, and are currently placed at fourth place in the league standings.
On August 16, 2026, Clark recorded 26 points on 9-of-20 shooting, nine assists and three rebounds in 41 minutes during an overtime victory at Atlanta. Prior to that, she had a 29-point, 10-assist performance against Dallas and a 26-point, 11-assist effort at Chicago. These games have only proved what her performances mean to the Fever.
These numbers are impressive for any player, and this has strengthened her candidacy for the league’s Most Valuable Player award. She is contending against other impressive players such as Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson, who is already a four-time MVP player. Minnesota Lynx’s Olivia Miles, Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell, and Dallas Wings’ Paige Bueckers are also strong options. Currently, Wilson is being tipped to win the award, as she leads the WNBA in both scoring and blocks. One Fever player has a clear choice in her MVP choice, and it is not Clark.
Fever teammate chooses Kelsey Mitchell over Caitlin Clark for MVP
While many fans are including Clark in the MVP discussions, Fever player Aliyah Boston seems to favor Mitchell instead. In a recent post-game interview, she praised Mitchell and claimed her as her clear MVP choice.
She said regarding Mitchell, “She’s really just the MVP. I think that’s just what she’s been doing. Every single night you see her come out and she drops. I don't even know how many points at this rate. She defends her butt off. … I’m really proud of her.” However, many Fever fans pushed back on her, and there is a current debate over which player deserves it more.
For now, Caitlin Clark will continue to focus on the games ahead with a crucial part of the WNBA season approaching.
