BUIES CREEK — Campbell newcomer Brandon Bowman has been named to the 2026 FCS Punter of the Year Award preseason watch list by the Augusta Sports Council.
The preseason list includes 14 players and recognizes some of the top punters in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Bowman, a Harrisburg native, enters his first season at Campbell after transferring from North Carolina Central. He earned honorable mention BOXTOROW HBCU All-America honors and first-team All-MEAC recognition as a punter in 2025.
The senior also was named to the MEAC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll following the 2025 season, his only year at North Carolina Central. Bowman began his college career at NCAA Division II member North Greenville.
The preseason watch list also includes Liam Allen IV of Howard, Logan Chenette of Stonehill, Brady Clark of Princeton, Demetrion Duvall of Alcorn State, Ryan Marks of Utah Tech, Charlie Mullen of Tarleton State, Max Pelham of South Dakota State, Connor Poole of Lehigh, Emiliano Salazar of San Diego, Ben Shrewsbury of Virginia Military Institute, Luke Silvernale of North Dakota, Brett Starling of Hampton and Nathaniel Wallace-Dilling of UTRGV.
Candidates were selected based on previous FCS Punter of the Year semifinalists, 2025 All-America and all-conference selections, statistical performance and 2026 preseason honors. The watch list is not final, and a player does not have to appear on it to win the award.
The winner will be selected by a national voting body consisting of FCS sports information directors and national sports writers.
The Augusta Sports Council created the FCS Punter of the Year Award in 2019 to recognize the top punter in the FCS. Criteria include net punting average, percentage of punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned, with particular emphasis on net punting average. Leadership, self-discipline and impact on team success also are considered.
The Augusta Sports Council also administers the Ray Guy Award, which honors the top punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
