With most of the starters out for Thursday night, it will be backup quarterback Trey Lance who will lead the Chargers against the Texans on the road in their preseason debut.
While the first preseason exhibition is always the least-polished product of the season, it’s still the first time fans will get to see some of the newest members of the Bolts. While we won’t know for sure until closer to game time, rookies Akheem Mesidor, Jake Slaughter, and Brenen Thompson should all get their share of snaps tonight.
It’s highly likely the Texans will also keep their best starters off the field as well, so it should be backups vs. backups for most of the night.
