Football season is underway, but the FHSAA games count for real on Aug. 21 after a week of Kickoff Classics. The SSAA teams already have their first game in the books.

Get ready for the 2026 season by checking out the teams profiled in our Tour of Brevard series.

Astronaut

After narrowly missing the state playoffs the last two years, Astronaut High seeks a return to the postseason in a new class and district.

Bayside

After back-to-back first round SSAA state playoff exits, Bayside High football got off to a positive start with a Week 1 win over Crescent City. The Bears look to prove they are capable of achieving postseason success.

Cocoa

As Cocoa High enters the 2026 season with a young team and new head coach Nate Hooks, the Tigers are embracing an underdog role as it pursues its 20th consecutive regional title.

Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High's system tweaks is already paying early dividends after a Week 1 win over Bronson. The Minutemen hope it extends for a full season and return to the postseason for the first time since 2023.

Eau Gallie

Eau Gallie High feature one of the most talented teams in the state as it looks to ride that talent to the school's first state championship.

Heritage

Heritage High are focusing on offensive improvement to support its strong defense as the Panthers look to win a district title and set themselves up for a deep playoff run.

Holy Trinity

After a 7-win season in the SSAA, Holy Trinity Episcopal competes in the inaugural FHSAA Independent Division looking to secure a postseason win for the first time in 5 years with an inexperienced, but talented squad.

Melbourne

After sneaking into the playoffs as a No. 8 seed, Melbourne High is raising its expectations behind an explosive offense and a revamped defense.

Melbourne Central Catholic

After a successful tenure at Cocoa, new Melbourne Central Catholic head coach Ryan Schneider looks to inject the same type of success with a Hustlers team who made the regional semifinals last year.

Merritt Island

Merritt Island High sets big goals for 2026 thanks to the return of its offensive spine and the infusion of several impact transfers as it looks to reach a state final for the first time since 2021.

Palm Bay

Palm Bay High looks to take another step towards playoff contention after a 2-win improvement last season. The Pirates will lean on quarterback Mik Zades and an athletic defense.

Rockledge

After a tumultuous summer, Rockledge High look to replace the production left void by graduations and transfers and qualify for the state playoffs for the 10th straight season.

Satellite

Satellite High made a Week 1 statement defeating Space Coast behind a suffocating defensive performance. The Scorpions seek to advance past the SSAA quarterfinals and contend for the championship.

Space Coast

After falling short of a repeat SSAA state title last year, Space Coast Jr/Sr High eyes a return to the mountaintop with a talented roster led by quarterback Zion Sandy and wide receiver/defensive back Kadyn Thomas.

Titusville

After Titusville High played in seven games decided by one or two possessions last year, the Terriers will look to prevail more in those close contests in 2026 and reach the state playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.

Viera

Viera High exceeded all expectations last year by reaching the regional semifinals. With an experienced roster back, the Hawks look to progress deeper into the playoffs.
