In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Chelsea are big admirers of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton this summer. It is believed that the Blues remain keen on acquiring the services of the English talent this off-season.
Wharton’s Impressive Form In English Football
Wharton enjoyed a good run of form at the London club in the previous campaign as he produced a string of influential displays at the heart of their midfield. The English sensation scored one goal and grabbed seven assists in 53 matches for Crystal Palace last season across multiple competitions.
The 22-year-old is currently among the most talented central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, Chelsea would do well to get a deal over the line for him in this transfer window.
His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Blues to land him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Wharton Add To Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso’s Team?
Wharton is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and can chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team from midfield.
The English talent is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. Wharton is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea.
We can expect Wharton to add more bite and steel to Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge next season.
At 22, the future looks quite promising for Wharton as long as he continues to improve with each year. The Crystal Palace star will also help the West London club get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League. Hence, the Blues should focus on going all out to snap him up before the end of this transfer window.
