The opening preseason game is in the books for the Kansas City Chiefs. Their battle with the Los Angeles Rams is far from a preview of their upcoming regular-season matchup, but it still helped evaluate the roster.

The rookie class was impressive on both sides of the football. Garrett Nussmeier, Emmett Johnson and Cyrus Allen showed flashes of brilliance in their stints on the field. Defensively, R Mason Thomas showcased his ability to rush the quarterback, causing multiple disruptions on pass plays and nearly collecting a sack.

The available veterans looked game-ready, with Nohl Williams and Jaden Hicks playing with urgency. Justin Fields protected the football and made solid decisions downfield in his brief playing time. There weren't many negatives aside from a few penalties from backup offensive linemen, but that is typical for the first preseason contest.

Check out how some of Kansas City's stars fared in the Chiefs' win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The former Nebraska standout played with confidence and vision with each carry as the team's leading rusher. He finished the game with 59 rushing yards on 12 carries and 3 catches for 10 yards out of the backfield. There were multiple penalties from the offensive line that called back big runs, including a first-half rushing touchdown opportunity.

Stock Up: Jaden Hicks

The veteran safety was all over the field during his time in the game in the first half as a starter. He led the charge with big hits and immediately pursued Rams offensive players. He finished the game leading the team with 7 total tackles.

Stock Up: Garrett Nussmeier

The rookie quarterback showed he's more than a 7th-round pick with his productive performance. Efficient play, completing 13 of 18 pass attempts for 98 yards, breathes plenty of hope for the future from the former LSU star.
