Clay Matthews is no stranger to being in front of the camera.
During his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, he appeared in movies, a TV sitcom and many commercials.
And most recently began appearing on FanDuel’s “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, a platform started by two former NFL players.
Matthews might be as comfortable in that role as he was chasing down and sacking quarterbacks.
Now, he’s set for a new gig as an NFL studio analyst for Netflix.
And he’s making his debut for the NFL’s first-ever game in Australia in Week 1.
Matthews will be part of the Netflix coverage team for the Los Angeles Rams-San Francisco 49ers game that will be played in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday, Sept. 10.
He’ll be joined by host Elle Duncan and fellow former NFL players, Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Nick Foles.
Matthews, 40, will appear during the pregame, at halftime and postgame.

Noah Eagle will be the play-by-play announcer for the game with 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Luke Kuechly, a former NFL linebacker, as the booth analyst.

When is the Netflix NFL Week 1 Australia game? Date, start time
The Rams and 49ers play in Melbourne, Australia, in Week 1 on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Kickoff is set for 7:35 p.m. CT from the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The game is streaming exclusively on Netflix, the streaming giant that has entered the NFL world in recent years.

The Melbourne game is one of multiple games that will be streamed exclusively on Netflix this season.
The Packers are part of two Netflix games, meaning Matthews will be in the studio providing analysis for those matchups.
This includes the NFL’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game on Nov. 25 when the Packers play at the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
And like in recent years, Netflix will air two Christmas Day games. The Packers play the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in one of the games on Dec. 25. The Buffalo Bills-Denver Broncos matchup at Empower Field at Mile High is the other. Both are playoff rematches from last season.
Netflix will also have a Week 18 game.
Clay Matthews was a Packers superstar
A first-round pick by the Packers in 2009, Matthews played all but one season of his 11-year career in Green Bay.
Matthews is the Packers’ all-time sacks leader, he earned six Pro Bowls and had one of the biggest plays in Green Bay’s Super Bowl victory in 2010 when he forced a fumble in the fourth quarter.
He wasn’t just a star on the field but he was off it as well. Matthews’ celebrity status grew during his career as he dabbled into acting with cameo appearances in film and TV.
Last year, Matthews stepped to the stage at the NFL Draft in Green Bay and had one of the viral moments of the week. He shouted in the microphone to kick off the festivities that the “Bears still suck.”
Matthews retired from the NFL following the 2019 season.
He was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 2024.
