Although the Cavaliers have been quiet this offseason, they executed a trade on Friday, Aug. 14, to increase their financial flexibility and thereby telegraphed another move.
The Cavs traded Dennis Schroder and cash to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Tre Mann, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal after ESPN first reported the news. The swap of backup point guards Schroder, 32, and Mann, 25, will give the Cavs more room under the second apron to add to their roster.
After losing the LeBron James sweepstakes last month to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Cavs have been linked to wings Jonathan Kuminga and Peyton Watson in potential sign-and-trade deals with the Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets, respectively.
