Anyone who has watched WWE over a long period of time will know the use of steroids has more than a bit of history with the company.
Indeed, a company wide scandal in the 1990s almost brought WWE and Vince McMahon to their knees.
However, in the more modern era, strict protocols and advances in sports science, medicine and nutrition mean that in general, WWE has very much improved its reputation on that front.
Nevertheless, with the modern day fan influenced more than ever by what they see online, certain wrestlers still find themselves being accused of such tactics. Indeed, this time, it is CM Punk who is taking some flak after getting into great shape as he approaches 50.
Of all the WWE superstars to be accused of taking supplements, Punk is arguably the last you’d expect to delve into that murky world.
And according to his personal trainer Jay Ferruggia, it is indeed just hard work and planning that’s getting Punk right.
CM Punk’s trainer explains why the current WWE champion is in such great shape
It is great to see CM Punk looking so good. There is a reason he is WWE champion and trusted with the responsibility of carrying that title and representing the company.
Now, hitting back at the online ‘trolls’, trainer Ferruggia has explained just why Punk is at the top of his game.
“So says the weak-minded, lazy internet,” Ferruggia hit back.
“CM Punk is working his a– off from day one when he reached out to me. He has done every single thing that I’ve asked him to do. He’s on vacation in Hawaii, checking in with me every single day, sending me pictures, sending me his meals, sending me his macros, his weight, his temperature after meals, sending me videos from the gym, taking naps, getting enough sleep, getting morning sunshine, taking the supplements I tell him to take, never missing a workout, doing more than I ask him to do. I have to hold him back.

“He’s getting his cardio in, weighing his food, buying rice cookers, buying scales, bringing all that with him on the road, eliminating all the s— from his diet, training harder than ever, smarter than ever, better than ever, dialed in at a level that most people could never comprehend.”
Adding further comment, Ferruggia admitted Punk is working harder than anyone he’s ever seen.
“In 30 years in this business, CM Punk is working as hard as anyone I’ve ever worked with. He’s as dedicated as anyone. And you’re going to sit here and post after post, ‘CM Punk is on steroids,’ blah, blah.
“Meanwhile, half these pictures are AI, and the other half are from being in the gym with great lighting, with a great pump.
“Now, how is he making progress like that? Again, he’s doing every damn thing I told him to do. He’s working his a– off. He’s gotten significantly leaner. So when you get leaner, you look bigger, and he’s training in a different way.”
“Honestly, he’s making almost newbie gains. It’s surprising me, but I know what’s going on. I know all the things he’s doing. I’m with him. I spend time with him. I talk to him every single day.
“So just because someone’s getting somewhere and accomplishing something that you can’t doesn’t mean they are taking shortcuts and cheating. You are just lazy.”
Clearly, Punk is simply putting in the work and showcasing the results on TV.
As with a lot of things online these days, there is a lot of jealousy and ultimately, being in the position he is, he’s open to shots being fired at him.
