American tennis star Coco Gauff is a two-time Grand Slam singles champion, a major doubles champion and social justice advocate, all by the age of 22. Now, she's adding executive producer to the list. \n As Gauff prepares for the 2026 U.S. Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year where she won her first major in 2023, Tennis Channel is set to release two short documentaries produced by Gauff. "The Zina Effect" and "Serve: Fashion & Tennis" will be available to stream on the Tennis Channel on Monday, Aug. 24. \n "The Zina Effect" traces the legacy of Olympic gold medalist Zina Garrison, "a pioneer for moving the needle in tennis in a cultural standpoint," Gauff said in a trailer released on Friday, Aug. 14. \n More: Tennis star Coco Gauff addresses WTA gene testing requirement \n

\n Garrison became the first Black woman since Althea Gibson to advance to a Grand Slam singles final in 1990 at Wimbledon, ultimately falling short to Martina Navratilova. She won a gold medal in the doubles event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, in addition to a bronze in the singles event. But Garrison said her goal was never to chase results, only her desire to help the next generation of tennis players. \n "It's funny. I never wanted to be number one. I didn't want the pressure, but I always wanted to be number one as far as giving back to my community because my community gave back so much," Garrison said in the trailer. \n She did just that by creating the Zina Garrison Tennis Academy in her hometown of Houston in 1992, shortly after her first and only Grand Slam finals appearance. Garrison's academy offers 45 weeks of free programing to youth, among other programs. "What's important to me has always been to pay it forward," Garrison added. \n

\n "Serve: Fashion & Tennis" explores the intersection of sports and style, something Gauff knows a thing or two about with partnerships with New Balance and Italian fashion house Miu Miu. The trailer showcases eye-catching looks from 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams to four-time major champion Naomi Osaka, who dazzled at Wimbledon in a striking kimono-inspired outfit honoring her Japanese heritage last month. \n "Other sports, you're mainly in a jersey, but tennis is the opposite," Gauff said in the trailer. Osaka added, "Clothes is a way to say something without actually speaking." \n Gauff and more of the world's top tennis stars are currently competing at the Cincinnati Open, a hard-court tune-up tournament ahead of the 2026 U.S. Open. The tournament is broadcast exclusively on Tennis Channel, Tennis Channel 2 streaming on tennischannel.com. \n The USA TODAY app gets you to the heart of the news —  Download for award-winning coverage, crosswords, audio storytelling, the eNewspaper and more. \n This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: Coco Gauff produces new tennis documentaries ahead of US Open | Exclusive
