Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and his family are disappointed and feel disrespected. How does this present itself when we all know Daniels is lauded and praised excessively by all of the Commanders fan base and the vast majority of NFL analysts? But rather than chase that rabbit, I am going to choose to wait until a few more of the facts are revealed in this story. However, speaking of ‘disrespect,’ how many of you saw the NFL.com power rankings as we begin this 2026 preseason, Friday night? The NFL site ranked all 32 teams based on where it thinks they currently stand. What I found humorous was that Commanders head coach Dan Quinn was asked about the Commanders’ first depth chart. Quinn responded that the team’s first depth chart was about as relevant as NFL preseason rankings. I don’t know if Quinn had actually seen the latest NFL power rankings, but I think he might have. All of those ‘analysts’ ranking the 32 NFL teams know the Commanders won two playoff games in 2024. They also know the Commanders fell flat on their faces in 2025, finishing 5-12. Perhaps many of those analysts recall the Commanders’ defense in 2025 ranked 30-32 in entirely too many statistical categories. Yet, at the same time, how much can the analysts know about each NFL team? Some know, but how many know the Commanders have two new coordinators and have largely started over, rebuilding much of the defense? So, when all the rankings were tabulated, NFL.com concluded the Commanders should be ranked No.29.
The #Commanders being ranked No. 29 overall in the #NFL is pretty disappointing to me. Yes, I know the Tunsil injury and 5-12 last year. https://t.co/7ZniJJoVNd I think they are largely different & could make playoffs. As we've been yapping about on @team980 — Chris Russell AKA the 🐓🐓! (@Russellmania621) August 12, 2026 29th out of 32 teams? Now THAT is disrespect! If Daniels is that concerned about being disrespected, he is the quarterback, the face of the franchise, the leader of the offense of the No. 29 team in the NFL, at least according to NFL.com. Pro Football Talk also produced its 2026 preseason power rankings this week as well. The Commanders weren’t respected much better here either. PFT ranks the Commanders 26th out of 32 NFL teams. Wouldn’t you rather hear that this ‘disrespect’ has Daniels focused and driven on his present job?
