The Washington Commanders had a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, and will now host them at Northwest Stadium. Jayden Daniels isn’t expected play in the first preseason game, so we’ll likely get Marcus Mariota starting and the battle for QB3 between Sam Hartman and rookie Athan Kaliakmanis taking center stage. There are a lot of new names on the team that will be playing their first game with the Commanders, and most of them are fighting for a roster spot.
There have been a number of training camp battles this summer, and some of them have unfortunately been affected by injuries. Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps which ended the LG competition between Chris Paul and Brandon Coleman(moving back to LT). Nick Allegretti suffered a calf strain and has missed most of training camp forcing Washington to scramble to find a replacement “starter” and depth for practices and preseason games. John Bates’ hamstring injury has allowed players like Colson Yankoff to step up and make plays over the last two weeks.
