Friday’s reports claim that Cesc Fabregas’s Como have made an approach to sign English centre-forward Liam Delap from Premier League side Chelsea, who recently sold Trevoh Chalobah to the Lariani for €30m.
Fabrizio Romano: Como enquiry for Chelsea’s Delap
According to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Como have made an ‘initial approach’ for Chelsea and former England youth international striker Delap.

Romano claims that Delap is high on Como’s shortlist of potential attacking options and that the relationship between the club and Chelsea is in a good place following the Chalobah deal. There is also the obvious Fabregas connection between the two clubs as well.
Delap, 23, impressed during his first season in the Premier League in 2024-25 when he netted 12 goals from 37 appearances for newly-promoted Ipswich Town. This was enough to convince Chelsea into triggering his €35m (£30m) release clause the following summer.
Since then, the 23-year-old has struggled to nail down a place as a starter at Stamford Bridge, falling behind Joao Pedro in the club’s pecking order, and by the end of 2026-27, he had registered just two goals from 41 appearances across all competitions, the majority of which came off the bench.

Como, meanwhile, feel that they still need a new centre-forward to rotate and compete with Anastasios Douvikas. Alvaro Morata remains on the club’s books, but he is likely to be sold if an appropriate offer comes in.
