As expected, Ferran Torres has brought an end to his time at FC Barcelona by signing for Paris Saint-Germain, the club have officially announced.
The 26-year-old forward had entered the final year of his contract with the Blaugrana and has decided to take up a new challenge in his career and reunite with former Spain manager Luis Enrique at PSG.
“FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ferran Torres to the French club,” the club statement read.
“The Club would like to express its gratitude to Ferran Torres for his commitment over the last five seasons as a Blaugrana and wishes him all the best for the next stage of his professional career.”
Signed from Manchester City in January 2022, Ferran spent nearly five years at Barcelona and made some vital contributions to the club’s success, winning three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups and a Copa del Rey.
Having helped the Spanish national team win the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer, he will now hope to enjoy a successful time with the current European champions, where he has signed a five-year contract until 2031.
While the statement does not mention it, Barcelona are set to pocket a transfer fee of €50 million from Ferran’s departure, which, considering his contract situation, seems like a solid deal in terms of finances for the club.
His exit should also pave the way for the La Liga champions to step up their pursuit and complete the signing of priority midfield target Rodri.
