Confirmed: Manchester City star signs new contract Jeremy Doku Signs New Manchester City Contract Until 2031

Manchester City have handled one important piece of business early. Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year deal, tying the Belgium international to the club until 2031. For Enzo Maresca, starting a new cycle at the Etihad, that matters.

Doku arrived from Rennes in 2023 and has done what City wanted. He has added pace, directness and unpredictability to a team that can sometimes look mechanical without a winger prepared to attack defenders repeatedly. The numbers are strong too, 22 goals and 34 assists in 131 appearances, with major honours already collected along the way, including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup. Doku Contract Gives Maresca Early Boost

There is no mystery here. Good clubs keep good players, particularly those entering their prime. Doku is 24, established at international level with 48 Belgium caps, and already experienced on the biggest stage after appearing at the recent World Cup. City have secured one of the Premier League’s most dangerous one-on-one forwards before the new season begins on August 21.

Doku made it clear why he stayed. “I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” Doku said. “This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do.

“With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players.”

That reference to Maresca is telling. New managers need buy-in, quickly. Doku’s extension suggests City’s dressing room sees the change in direction as an opportunity, not a disruption.

Director of football Hugo Viana was equally direct: “Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see. He has a special dynamic. He has the right characteristics for what we are looking for in a winger. He really does bring a special quality to our team.

“He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue his improvement in the coming months and years.”

Simple enough. Manchester City wanted certainty around Jeremy Doku, and now they have it.
