The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 22 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the present of No. 22 at LSU:
No. 22 - RB Harlem Berry
The Tigers have one of the most exciting young running backs in the country, as everyone awaits what Lane Kiffin and his staff are going to be able to do with a talent like Berry.
Berry had some flashes as a true freshman last season, but that wasn't an environment that would support consistent production from almost anybody. Overall, he had 104 rushes for 491 yards with two scores. He also had eight catches for 32 yards, which is another area that should receive more focus.
The New Orleans area native was a five-star coming out of high school and the top running back in the nation. He was utterly dominant in high school, looking two or three levels above most he played against. He drew comparisons to Reggie Bush, which is a massive compliment.
Berry has been hard at work this offseason and hopes to see a massive rise in production in this new offense. Kewan Lacy, last year for the Ole Miss Rebels, put up 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns. While Berry isn't going to be getting 206 carries, Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. know what they're doing in opening up the offense for their backs.
No. 22 - CB Havon Finney Jr.
Finney was key part of Kiffin's first LSU recruiting class. He is the next in a recent line of elite athletes picked up off the West Coast from Corey Raymond. The Sierra Canyon graduate was a top 150 recruit and is certainly projected to be a future starter for the Tigers.
The 6-foot-1 corner reclassified to the 2026 class, so he is very young. He is a lengthy athlete who ran track. If he is able to add a little bit of weight to his frame while keeping up the burst and speed, then LSU could have one of their next true DBU stars waiting in the wings. He probably won't play right away, but he is in the future plans.
