The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly adding one of the most accomplished pass rushers in NFL history to a defense that already presented problems for the Philadelphia Eagles. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that eight-time Pro Bowl linebacker Von Miller is expected to sign with Dallas. The move would complete a Texas homecoming for Miller, who grew up in DeSoto and became a star at Texas A&M before Denver selected him second overall in the 2011 NFL draft.
Miller is 37 and no longer the every-down force who earned Super Bowl 50 MVP honors, but his 2025 season showed that his pass-rushing ability remains useful. He recorded nine sacks for Washington, increasing his career total to 138.5, and now could move from one NFC East rival to another.

Dallas would not need Miller to carry its defense. The Cowboys can deploy him as a situational rusher alongside Rashan Gary and Donovan Ezeiruaku, with Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark creating pressure from the interior. That group gives Dallas several ways to attack protections on obvious passing downs.
Philadelphia has one of the league’s strongest tackle pairings in Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. Miller’s arrival still gives Sean Mannion and Jalen Hurts another matchup to account for, especially when Dallas moves its rushers around and attempts to isolate running backs or interior linemen.
The Eagles and Cowboys meet in Weeks 7 and 12, with the second matchup scheduled for Thanksgiving. Miller alone will not determine the NFC East race, but proven pass rushers can swing close divisional games by producing one third-down sack or late takeaway. Dallas just added another player capable of creating that moment.
