Cowboys must keep this player following his preseason debut

Where were you when Camden Brown locked up his spot on the Dallas Cowboys 53-man roster?

That may have not literally happened on Saturday night against the Seattle Seahawks, but it could have from a practical standpoint. Camden Brown, an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Southern, played in an NFL game for the first time ever and did not disappoint.

He scored a touchdown to close out the first half.

And then to start the second!

The first score was obviously very impressive from an overall standpoint, but the second was particularly wow-worthy based on how he hauled in Joe Milton’s pass. Saying that Brown locked up a spot on the team right now is obviously said in fun, but he certainly made as strong of an argument as you can through an initial preseason game.

It is common for UDFAs at the wide receiver position to shine and cause fans to fall in love. Brown is certainly stirring a potion that none of us can say no to, but the Cowboys have a lot of receivers on the team. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, and KaVontae Turpin are all locks. Jonathan Mingo is someone to consider as well, plus he was traded for (although that was a year and a half ago), and Anthony Smith is a draft pick. Those things matter.

But maybe they don’t matter enough. Maybe Camden Brown is worth finding a way for.
