FRISCO - Von Miller recently officially went on the record regarding his desire to sign with his hometown Dallas Cowboys. And now his push for a job is being rewarded. As of a month ago? Per two sources who'd spoken to CowboysRoundtable.com about the concept, the team's polite response was basically "not interested at this time.'' But times just changed. Miller is destined for the Hall of Fame, but as he wraps up his career, the 37-year-old also has hoped he was destined for a DFW homecoming. "I grew up here in Dallas ...  I've always had a special place in my heart for the Dallas Cowboys,'' he said in an interview this week with RJ Ochoa. "If I played for the Dallas Cowboys this year I … I only have to drive 20 minutes to work. ... This would be the first time that my mom and dad don't have to fly to every single game. "My kids are here. My family is here, girlfriend is here. Everybody's here. ... I would I would love to play for the Dallas Cowboys and it'd be amazing." On Sunday night, Miller himself confirmed reports that Dallas is indeed signing him. "Dallas!'' he posted. "Let’s make this one Special!'' This idea has long been openly discussed by the DeSoto native and Texas A&M product. And a hookup with his  hometown Cowboys has over the years been discussed by the team as well. Von Miller Speaks Out; Why Cowboys 'Special' Signing Is The Right MoveAfter weeks of campaigning on social media, Miller has landed with the Cowboys. Before camp, it was our impression that the free agent Miller - even though he had nine sacks last year for the Commanders - was not really on the radar here. But Miller did visit camp in Oxnard. And he works out almost daily at a training facility across the street from team headquarters. "I'm not on my last flame,'' Miller recently said, and that may be so. Those nine sacks would've led the Dallas defense a year ago. "I don't want to pat myself on the back, but at 37 years old, I can still roll out the bed and still rush the quarterback. I'm still a great guy in the locker room, I bring great energy, I make sure everybody is ready to go." In the case of the Cowboys, well aware that Miller is a two-time Super Bowl champion and the MVP of Super Bowl 50? They are still planning on leaning on Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku and rookie Malachi Lawrence to lead the edge-rush charge. But Miller thinks he can "roll out of bed'' and get eight sacks. And indeed, Dallas doesn't need Von Miller to be the player he was in Denver  ... back in the days when Von and the Cowboys had their big-money flirtations. The Cowboys would simply need him to be the player he was in Washington last season. ... and the player he's promising to be again.
