Caitlin Clark’s up-and-down night in a close win over Tempo sparks divided reactions from across the WNBA world.

Caitlin Clark filled the stat sheet again Tuesday, but the Indiana Fever superstar’s latest performance was a roller-coaster outing.

The three-time All-Star finished with 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists in Indiana’s 101-95 win over the struggling Toronto Tempo, losers of a league-worst 11 straight games.

However, she also committed 7 turnovers, including 5 in the third quarter, prompting mixed reactions from the WNBA world.

WNBA Community Split Over Caitlin Clark’s Latest Performance As Fever Edge Struggling Tempo

The Fever led 57-49 at halftime but couldn’t shake a Toronto team that struggled to convert consistently. Clark’s 5 third-quarter turnovers helped the Tempo hang around, although Indiana still entered the final 10 minutes with an 81-69 advantage.

When the contest tightened late, Clark delivered. She scored 6 points in the fourth quarter, including 2 free throws that helped put the game away and secure another Fever victory.

Even with the uneven night, Clark’s numbers continued to add to an already remarkable statistical season.

According to Real App, the only players with 700-plus points and 250-plus assists in a season were Clark in 2024, her rookie year, and this season.

Per ESPN Insights, the sweet-shooting guard also recorded her sixth straight game with at least 20 points and 5 assists, matching the streak she put together from June 11-22 this year.

Hoop Central highlighted just how strong Clark’s recent production has been, pointing out that she is averaging 26.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field and 41.4% from 3-point range over her last 12 games.

“CRAZY NUMBERS,” Hoop Central wrote.

Still, her impact against Toronto was far from flawless. Clark played a team-high 33 minutes, but Indiana was outscored by 2 points during her time on the floor, making her the only Fever starter with a negative plus-minus.

That inconsistency sparked sharply divided reactions across the WNBA community.

“Two contrasting halves this one. Great 1st half and then atrocious 2nd half, looked like she was absentminded that whole half. Such a tough watch that 2nd half. But hey, we get the W one more,” a Fever supporter weighed in.

“Being Caitlin Clark, you can’t afford a meh game. That’s how this life is as the hunted one,” a WNBA observer noted.

“Caitlin Clark could probably cut out the unforced turnovers,” Fever analyst Robin Lundberg tweeted.

“Caitlin Clark played like [expletive], and she still had 24 points and 7 assists; let that sink in,” a sports and political analyst remarked. The same commentator added:

“Caitlin Clark’s energy been off the whole game. I don’t know if it’s just the time change or what it is, but she just hasn’t had that spurt tonight, and she still got 20.”

Skip Bayless offered further context on Clark’s performance:

“Obviously Caitlin Clark can’t have 7 turnovers (5 in the 3rd quarter) against better teams. But her 7 assists tonight could’ve been 10 or even 12 if her teammates had cashed more of her wizard feeds.”

Clark’s night was hardly perfect, but that may be what made it so revealing. Even when the turnovers pile up and the rhythm disappears, she still finds a way to produce and, more importantly, help Indiana leave with a win.
