Dave Toub reveals expectations for a wide receiver in the return game

Kansas City Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub spoke with reporters after practice on Wednesday at Missouri Western State University. He revealed his expectations for wide receiver Nikko Remigio this year in the return game. "More touchdowns, that would be great. His vision really improved, I think. You see it in practice; he'll see a crack in the middle. Instead of running all the way around it, he will plant a foot and get upfield and get 15 to 20 extra yards," said Toub. "Those are the ones that sometimes pop you and get out on you in a hurry. He's catching the ball great. I am really pleased with where he is at right now." During his Chiefs career, the former Fresno State standout has appeared on 70 offensive snaps and 147 on special teams in 19 games and one start. He battled for an opportunity on the active roster since entering the league as an undrafted free agent and floating between the practice squad. He will likely face competition from new players on the roster for the returner role as preseason gets underway on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. Remigio played 14 games last season. He finished 2025 with 741 yards on 29 kick returns and 191 yards on 25 punt returns.
