The Zambia international has attracted interest from clubs at home and abroad after impressing during his first year with Hibs.

Celtic reportedly had a January bid rejected for the energetic midfielder and could return to the table before the summer transfer window closes.

Speculation has intensified after representatives of the player indicated Chaiwa would be keen on a switch to the Scottish champions.

Gray has now addressed the uncertainty surrounding some of Hibs’ most valuable players, admitting the Easter Road club are well aware that strong performances can attract interest.

Via the Daily Record, Gray said ahead of the Hibees’ clash away against FK Shkendija: “I think speaking to players happens every day, anyway.

“And, whilst that window is open, if players are playing well and with some of what you would deem assets in the squad, you have to be ready for that.

“We’re not naive to think that, [when] young players are performing well at a very high level, playing on the biggest stage in Europe certainly adds to that.

“But every single player has got a value and, until that’s met or the club decides it’s right for everybody involved, the players are fully focused on playing.

“That’s what I would say is that everybody that’s in the group at the moment, our only mindset is feeling good about Sunday, taking that into Thursday night.

“And I think that’s the most important thing, that the players are fully focused on what we’re facing tomorrow night.

“As soon as that whistle went at Ibrox, you enjoy it for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, the relief kicks in and then it’s straight onto watching back leg one, preparing the players, getting them recovered as quick as we can for Thursday night.

“That’s all my focus has been on, and understandably so.

“So all the conversations I’ve had at this moment in time have been with the players that are in the building and available to be used.”
